Rasam / Rasam without Rasam Powder

Rasam is a south indian dish. It is also a traditional dish which is made with tamarind juice as a main ingredient. It is one of the important dish in the South Indian thali.There are varieties of Rasam in which this is a simple and easy one.


Prepartion time: 5 mins
cooking time: 10 mins
Serves: 4

Ingredients:

Tamarind juice- 1 cup
Asetafodia- 1 tsp
Coriander leaves for garnishing

For masala:

Pepper corns- 1 tbsp
Cumin seeds- 2 tsp
Shallots- 3
Tomato- 1
Green chilli- 1
Ginger- 1 small piece
garlic- 4 cloves

For tempering:

Oil- 1 tsp
Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
Dry red chilli- 1
Curry leaves

Procedure:

1. Take all your ingredients.


2. Take the ingredients for masala in a mixer and grind it to a coarse paste.



3. Heat a kadai and add the ingredients for tempering one by one.


4. Add the grounded masala and saute for a minute and then add astefodia.



5. Add the tamarind juice along with enough water and finally add salt.



6. Serve hot with rice.
