Idiyappam / Nool Puttu / String Hoppers

Idiyappam is a regular breakfast in our home. It is a steamed rice based dish which is very delicious. Actually it's my favorite. I love it with mutton curry. It tastes so heavenly. You got to try this and see the result .

Preparation Time: 20 mins
Cooking Time: 10 mins

Ingredients:

Rice Flour- 2 cups
Water- 2 to 2.5 cups
Salt to taste

Procedure:

1. Take your idiyappam maker, rice flour and salt.

2. Mix the rice flour and salt together. Heat the water until bubbles start appearing on the bottom of the pan.

3. When the water is just about to boil, add it to the rice flour. Don't just pour the water all at once. Add it little by little to the rice flour.

4. Start mixing vigorously with the back of  the wooden spoon until the rice flour is coming together to form a moist dough.

5. Start your process while the dough is still warm so that pressing would be quiet easy.

6. Pour enough water into the steamer needed to steam all the idiyappams.

7. Now grease the plates with little oil in which your are going to make idiyappams.

8. Take a small portion of the dough, place firmly into the idiyappam maker.

9. Start pressing the idiyappam on to the greased plates in concentric circles.

10. Stack them all together and place carefully inside the steamer.

11. Cover the steamer and cook on medium flame for about 10 mins.

Delicious idiyappams are ready to eat.
