Onion Tomato Chutney



A quick and easy recipe to accompany dosa, idli or uttapam. It taste quite tangy and sweet but the combination of tomatoes with coconut is really good

Preparation time: 10 mins
Cooking time: 20 mins

Ingredients:

Onion - 1 chopped
Tomatoes - 3 chopped
Ginger - small piece
Dry red chilli - 2
Coconut - 2 tbsp
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Salt - to taste
Sugar - 1 tsp
Oil - 1 tbsp

For Tempering:

Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Dry red chilli - 1
Curry leaves - 1 spring
Asafoetida - a pinch
Oil - 1 tbsp

Procedure:

1. Take all your ingredients.



2. In a kadai add oil and saute onion. Cook for few mins.


3. Then add chopped tomatoes and mix well. Saute till it is cooked.


4. Add salt and sugar.


5. When it turns mushy, add coconut ,turmeric powder and red chilli. Mix well. Cook for few mins.


6. Let it cool down and grind it to a smooth paste.



7. Now make tempering by heating oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, red chilli, asafoetida and curry leaves and stir well.


8. Pour this into the chutney and mix well.



9. Serve it. 


Enjoy with crispy dosas..
