Mutton chukka is a lip smacking chettinad cuisine from Chettinad region of Tamil Nadu. Here is a simple yet a delicious recipe for all spice lovers. Enjoy!
Preparation time: 30 mins
Cooking time: 45 mins
Ingredients:
Mutton- 200 gm
Shallots- 15-20
Ginger Garlic paste- 1 tbsp
Tomato- 1
Turmeric powder- 1 tsp
Red chilli powder- 1 tsp
Coriander powder- 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
For Tempering:
Fennel seeds- 1/2 tsp
Cinnamon- 1/2 inch piece
Cloves- 2
Dry red chilli- 2
Curry leaves- 1 spring
Oil- 3 tbspn
Procedure:
1. In a pressure cooker, add oil, fennel seeds, cinnamon, cloves, dry red chilli and curry leaves.
2. Then add shallots, garlic and fry till it is slightly browned.
3. Then add tomato and saute till it is mushy and raw smell leaves.
4. Add red chilli powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder. Saute well. Then add cooked mutton pieces and cook for 3 whistle and simmer for 10 mins.
5. Switch off the flame and let the pressure go all by itself. Open the cooker and keep stirring the liquid on high heat till most of the water evaporates.
6. Add little more oil and curry leaves at this stage and keep stirring till it becomes dry.
Serve hot and enjoy!
