Punjabi Aloo Samosa / Wheat Punjabi Samosa


Samosa, the most loved Indian appetizer with a crisp crust and savory potato stuffing. When you make such fried fast food at home, you should make some changes to make it healthy. Here are some whole wheat aloo matar samosas for you to try at home

Preparation time: 15 mins
Cooking time: 35 mins

Ingredients:

Whole wheat flour- 1 cup
Carom seeds/ Ajwain- 1 tsp
Ghee- 1/2 tbspn
Oil- 1/2 tbspn
Salt to taste

For Filling:

Potatoes- 2 medium
Green peas- 1/4 cup
Jeeragam- 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder- 1/2 tsp
Jeera powder- 1/2 tsp
Garam masala- 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
Green chilli- 1
Coriander leaves- few spring
Salt
Oil for frying

Procedure:

1. Take all your ingredients.


2. Take whole wheat flour and add salt, ajwain seeds, ghee and oil. Add little water to knead it to a dough, the dough should be stiff. Let it rest for 30 mins.


3. Boil and mash the potatoes.


4. Pressure cook peas till they are cooked. I used frozen green peas. In a pan heat 1 tbsp oil. Add cumin seeds,green peas,chopped green chilli and the spice powders.


5. Add the mashed potatoes and coriander leaves. Mix everything.



6. Divide the dough into equal sized balls. Roll out each ball into a very thin circle using little wheat flour and cut in the middle with your knife.


7. Cover it into a cone shape. Just press the sides with your finger tips.




8. Heat the oil in a kadai and deep fry till they turn crisp and golden brown in colour.


9. Serve hot with green chutney or tomato ketchup.
