Paalaada is nothing but rice crepes which is very soft and thin. It is very simple to make and we don't have to wait till the batter to get fermented like we do for dosa or aapam. This goes best with any spicy non vegetarian gravy, but you can have it with any gravy of your choice
Preparation Time: 3 to 4 hrs
Cooking Time: 30 sec or more for each paalaada
Ingredients:
Rice- 1 cup (raw rice)
Coconut milk - 1 cup
Water as needed
Salt to taste
Procedure:
1. Wash and soak the rice for at least 3 hours. Now drain them and add it to a blender. Grind the rice to a fine paste with water as needed. The consistency should be very smooth.
2. Add egg to the same blender and blend it. Add coconut milk to that.
3. The consistency that you need should be watery. Add salt as needed.
4. Heat a nonstick pan. When the pan is hot, pour a ladle full of batter into the pan and immediately swirl the pan to spread the batter so that it coats on all sides of the pan.
5. Wait for 30-40 secs until the sides of the paalaada start to come off the pan.
6. Turn the pan upside down to a plate to take the paalaada off the pan. Paalaada is now ready to fold. You can fold it into triangles. Serve hot with spicy curry..
