Dal Palak / Spinach Dal Gravy


Its an easy and simple side dish. As it has the main ingredients dal and spinach this dish is definitely a healthy one. Also its a good dish to feed toddlers along with rice. Its filled with nutrients so try it and be healthy .

Preparation Time: 10 mins
Cooking Time: 30 mins


Ingredients:

Spinach/Palak- 3 cup
Onion- 1 small size chopped finely
Moong dal/Paasi Parupu- 1/2 cup
Turmeric Powder- 1/2 tsp
Mustard Seeds- 1 tsp
Oil- 1 tbsp
Salt to taste

For grinding:

Coconut- 3 tbsp
Cumin seeds- 1 tsp
Chili Powder- 1 tsp
Garlic - 2 pods


Procedure:

1. Take all your ingredients. 


2. Heat oil in a kadai. Add in mustard seeds. After it splutters add the finely chopped onion and saute for a min. Now add palak/spinach to it. Saute and add very little water because the spinach itself releases little water when its cooking.


3. Pressure cook moong dal for about 5 whistles by adding 2 cups of water.


4. Now add the cooked moong dal to the palak and give it a mix. Allow it to boil. Add the grinded masala, turmeric powder and salt then cook for few more minutes.


5. After the consistency has turned to medium (paste), turn off the heat.



Serve with rice..
