Semiya Payasam/ Vermicelli Payasam


Semiya payasam is such an easy dessert to make for festive occasions or even on a normal day. The roasted nuts and dates in the payasam adds extra taste. After a heavy meal in the weekends this sweet and easy dessert adds more joy in the end. Enjoy ..


Preparation Time: 10 mins
Cooking Time: 30 mins

Ingredients:

Vermicelli- 100 g
Milk- 1 litre
Condensed Milk- 1/2 tin
Sugar- 3/4 cup
Ghee- 2 tbsp
Dates- 5 (seeds removed)
Cashews- 2 tbsp
Raisins- 2 tbsp
Cardamom-  3


Procedure:

1. Take all your ingredients.


2. Pour milk in a heavy bottom pan and add 3 crushed cardamoms.



3. Allow the milk to get boiled.


4. Now add the sugar and stir well.


5. Simultaneously add the roasted semiya gently and mix well.


6. Cook till the semiya is done by keeping the lid closed.


7. Meanwhile chop the nuts and dates.


8. Now the semiya is cooked well.


9. Add the condensed milk slowly and stir well.


10. Simmer the flame for few mins.


11. Heat ghee in a frying pan.


12. Add the cashews and raisins. Fry till it becomes golden brown.


13. Add the roasted cashews and raisins along with dates to the payasam. Mix them together.


14. Serve either hot or cold. Both tastes yummy..
