Dried fish are good sources of calcium. Nethili karuvadu thokku is perfect with steamed rice, idly ,dosa etc,. Anyone will crave for it when served hot, or the best way of all is serving it on the next day after it is cooked .

Ingredients:
Anchovies / Nethili karuvadu- 20 to 25 nos
Tamarind- a small lemon size
Fenugreek seeds / vendhayam- 1 tsp
Curry leaves- 1 spring
Coconut oil- 1 tblspn
Salt as needed
For grinding:
Shallots- 15
Tomato- 1
Chilli powder- 1 tsp
Coriander powder- 1/2 tsp
Fennel powder- 1/2 tsp
Pepper powder- 1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1 tsp

Curry leaves- 1 spring
Coconut oil- 1 tblspn

For grinding:

Chilli powder- 1 tsp
Coriander powder- 1/2 tsp
Fennel powder- 1/2 tsp
Pepper powder- 1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1 tsp
Procedure:
1. Soak the anchovies dry fish in water for 30 mins. Remove the head and tail part and clean well.
2. Take all the grinding ingredients in a blender and make it into a fine paste.1. Soak the anchovies dry fish in water for 30 mins. Remove the head and tail part and clean well.
3.Take an earthenware kadai or any kadai and add the pureed masala.
4. Add the tamarind pulp and salt. Mix well.
5. Cook till the mix is thick.
6. Add in anchovies fish and mix well. Cover and cook for 10 mins till the fish is tender and cooked.
7. Now make seasoning, heat oil and add fenugreek seeds and curry leaves.
8. Pour this over the thokku.
9. Mix well.
Serve with hot rice.
