Ragi Semiya Upma / Ragi vermicelli

Health is Wealth. To start a day with a healthy breakfast we decided to post a variety cuisine with Ragi. Ragi is one of the millet variety. It's a powerhouse of health benefiting nutrients that can also helps in reducing weight. Here you go with very simple steps to cook a quick breakfast

Preparation Time: 10 mins
Cooking Time: 20 mins
Serving Suggestion: Serve with a cup of hot tea

Ingredients:

Ragi vermicelli- 1/2cup
Onion - 1 medium(sliced)
Green chilli- 2nos
Ginger- 1tsp(finely chopped)
Coconut- 1tbspn
Carrot- 1/4cup grated
Mustard seed- 1/2tsp
Urad dal- 1tsp
Coconut oil- 1tspn
Curry leaves- 1spring
Salt- to taste

Procedure:

1. Take your  ingredients.


2. Soak the ragi vermicilli in 2 cups of water for 2 to 3 mins(not more than that).


3. Drain the water and steam cook for 5 mins.(In a idly pot or in a steamer).


4. In a pan pour oil and then add mustard seeds, urad dal. Let them splutter. Now add curry leaves, chopped ginger, onion and green chilli. Sauté for 3 mins. Then add carrot, salt cook for about 5 mins.


5. Now mix the cooked ragi vermicelli & mix them well.

6. Serve hot.
