Mutton Kappa Briyani is a fabulous kerala cuisine. I really wanted to try something different with tapioca so i opted this tasty briyani and it turned out awesome. Many people ignore tapioca from the diet as it is related to gastric problems but it contains a good amount of fiber that is good for maintaining our health. Usually kappa and fish goes well but you can combine kappa and mutton or beef also. It really tastes great. So if you are thinking to try a variety dish with non-veg then definitely you can choose this. Go ahead and taste a yummy dish ..

Serves: 4
Ingredients:
Tapioca- 1 kg
Mutton- 1/2 kg
Shallots- 15
Tomato- 1
Green Chilli- 2
Garam Masala- 1 tsp
Curry Masala Powder- 2 tbsp
Curry leaves- few
Oil- 3 tbsp
Water- 1/4 cup
Salt to taste
For Grinding:
Coconut- 1/2 cup
Cumin Seeds- 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder- 1/4 tsp
Shallots- 2
Green Chilli- 1
Ginger- small piece
For Tempering:
Mustard Seeds- 1/2 tsp
Dry red chilli- 1
Curry leaves- few
Oil- 1 tsp
Procedure:
1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add the onions and saute well.
2. Add ginger garlic paste and saute till the raw smell leaves. Now add the green chilli and tomato. Saute them all together.
3. Add the curry masala powder, salt, mutton and mix them very well. Pour water to it and pressure cook the mutton.
4. Clean the tapioca, peel the skin and chop into medium pieces.
5. In a vessel, place the tapioca and pour salt and enough water so that it is completely immersed, now allow them to boil and cook them till it becomes soft.
6. Drain the water from the tapioca and keep it aside.
7. Grind the ingredients given under for "grinding" and add it to the tapioca.
8. Mix them all together and slightly mash the tapioca pieces.
9. Add the mixed tapioca masala to the cooked mutton gravy, mash them little more and combine them all together.
10. Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds, add dry chilli and curry leaves. Saute them until it becomes golden brown color.
11. Pour this over the tapioca mutton briyani and give it a mix.
