Broken egg Curry / Poached egg curry

If you want a different recipe using egg, then you can try this. This is a gravy dish which goes well with the Idiyappam. In fact I would say that Idiyappam and Broken egg curry are made for each other. The procedure is very simple. You have to first prepare the coconut based gravy, and then pour the egg one by one to it. Thats it. The main thing you need to keep in mind is that, do not stir the gravy after you have added the eggs. If you do so, then you will not get the right consistency which we require instead you will end up preparing a different recipe. As you can see in the picture, the egg whites should be thick and kind of in one piece. It doesn't matter if it slightly breaks. But make sure you don't scramble it.

Serves: 4

Ingredients:

Egg- 4
Onion- 2
Tomato- 1
Green chilli- 1
Cardamom- 1
Clove- 2
Cinnamon- 1 small piece
Salt to taste
Ginger garlic paste- 1 tbsp
Curry leaves
Coriander leaves for garnishing

For grinding:

Coconut -1/2 cup
Red chilli powder- 1 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder- 2 tsp
Fennel powder- 1 tsp
Cumin powder- 1/2 tsp
Garam masala- 1/2 tsp

Procedure:

1. Take all your ingredients.

2 .In a kadai add oil, whole spices, curry leaves, onion, green chilli, tomato and ginger garlic paste one by one and saute till it becomes soft.

3. In a blender take ingredients given under "grinding" and grind it to a smooth paste.

4. Add the ground masala with enough water and allow it to boil.

5. Once it starts boiling add the eggs one by one as shown.

6. Cook for 10 mins under low flame. Do not stir in between.

7. Garnish with coriander leaves and Serve hot.
