Fish Briyani


When craving for briyani other than chicken or mutton then you can call for fish briyani which gives different taste and feel. The first thing that comes to my mind when i come across king fish is nothing but obviously.. Fish Briyani!! We really can't miss this tasty meal.. right? My mom is an expert in preparing fish briyani so i adopted her style and it turned out soo well. You don't have to worry about the fish smell in briyani because nothing that sort of, Instead you will get a flavorful Fish Briyani. Hope you all will definitely try this briyani. Enjoy !!

Preparation  Time: 20 mins
Cooking  Time: 1 hour
Serves: 3

Ingredients:

For Marination:

Fish - 500 gm
Turmeric Powder- 1/2 tsp
Chilli Powder_ 1 tsp
Fennel Powder- 1/2 tsp
Pepper Powder- 1/2 tsp
Ginger Garlic Paste- 1 1/2 tsp
Lemon Juice- 1 tbsp
Salt to taste

For Briyani Masala:

Onion- 3
Tomato- 1
Green Chilli- 4
Ginger Garlic Paste- 1 tbsp
Curd- 3/4 cup
Cumin Seeds- 1/2 tsp
Cardamon- 2
Cinnamon- 1 small stick
Cloves- 2
Chilli Powder- 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder-1 tsp
Corriander Powder- 1 tsp
Fennel Powder- 1 tsp
Garam Masala Powder- 1 tsp
Corriander Leaves- 1/2 cup
Mint Leaves- 1/2 cup
Ghee- 3 tbsp
Salt to taste

For Cooking Rice:

Basmati Rice- 2 cups
Water as required
Cardamon- 3
Cinnamon- 1 small stick
Cloves- 2
Cumin Seeds- 1/2 tsp
Salt as needed



Procedure:

1. Wash the rice and soak it for 20-30 mins.

2. Take a heavy bottom vessel and boil lots of water. Add the ingredients given under "for cooking rice".

3. Now add the soaked rice to the water and cook until it is 3/4 done, approx. 7-8 mins. Drain them and keep aside.


4. Marinate the fish pieces using the ingredients given,'For Marination' and let it rest for 30 mins. After that fry the fish pieces for 5 mins on each side and remove them .

5. Heat ghee in a pan and fry one onion to golden brown and set aside.


6. Add the remaining ghee to the kadai and add  the whole spices. then add the sliced onions and saute till it becomes translucent.

7. Add ginger garlic paste and saute till the raw smell goes. Now add the green chilli and tomatoes and mix it well. Saute it till it becomes mushy.


8. Add the spices one by one and stir well. Now add the coriander and mint leaves. Give them all a good mix.

9. After stirring well, add the yogurt and cook till oil separates.


10. Gently place the fried fish pieces and coat  them with masalas.


11. Cook the fish for about 3-4 mins in low flame.


12. Now layer the cooked rice over the fish masala and sprinkle some corriander leaves, fried onions over the rice. Drizzle some ghee on the top and put dum for 10 mins in very low flame. Keep the lid closed tightly.


13. Yummy king fish briyani is ready to eat..

    1. King Fish is the most preferable. You can use fish fillet too. Salmon and red snapper are also good choice.
