Preparation Time: 15 mins
Cooking Time: 15- 20 mins
Serves: 2
Ingredients:
Milk Powder- 1/2 cup
All purpose flour- 1 tbsp
Baking soda- 1/8 tsp
Ghee- 1 tbsp
Milk- 3 tbsp
Oil for frying
For Sugar Syrup:
Sugar- 1 cup
Water- 1 cup
Cardamom pods- 2 or 3
Procedure:
1. Collect all your ingredients.
2. Mix milk powder, baking soda and flour together.
3. Add ghee to it and mix them. Now add milk and gently mix them again. If necessary add more milk and bring the mixture all together enough to form balls out of it. DO NOT KNEAD the mixture because the jamun will turn hard and won't get the real taste.
4. Divide the mixture into equal sized balls. The mixture will be sticky so rub your palms with milk and make balls.
5. Meanwhile prepare the sugar syrup, add the sugar, cardamom and water then boil it and bring it to 1/2 string consistency (i.e, the stage before it attains one string consistency). Then switch off the flame.
7. Add the fried jamuns to the sugar syrup and allow it to rest them at least for 2 hrs in syrup so as to absorb the syrup properly.
8. Yummy jamuns are ready to serve.
Note:
1. Do not knead the mixture, else you will end up with hard skin jamuns..
2. In this recipe, the sugar syrup doesn't requires to be in one string consistency.
