Sweet Potato Jamun / Gulab Jamun with Sweet Potato( Cheeni Kilangu)


One of the most loved indian sweets is gulab jamun. This recipe is also about jamuns but made from sweet potato. With less ingredients you get a healthy and tasty jamuns. Try this different. jamuns and enjoy .



Preparation Time: 15 mins
Cooking Time: 15 mins

Ingredients:

Sweet potato- 2 cups
All purpose flour- 2 tbsp
Sugar- 2 tbsp
Oil for deep frying

 For Sugar Syrup:

Water- 2 cup
Sugar-. 2 cup
Cardamom pods- 2 or 3

Procedure:

1. Boil sweet potatoes.


2. Peel the skin off and mash them using blender.


3. Add the flour and form into a dough.


4. Roll the dough into small smooth balls.


5. Meanwhile prepare the sugar syrup. Boil equal amount of water and sugar. ( if you want syrup to be more sugary you can reduce the water amount to half. i.e, water and sugar - 1: 2 ratio)


6. Add cardamom pods to the syrup and once it is boiled and became little thick off the flame and keep it aside.


7. Now deep fry the balls till it gets golden brown color. Sometimes the sweet potato balls may stick together so be careful when frying them. Better fry them in batches leaving space between them.



8. Pour the sugar syrup in a separate bowl and drop the balls in them. Allow them to soak for 30 minutes to get the flavor.


9. Now your sweet potato jamuns are ready to eat.


Note:
Soaking jamuns for more time increases the taste.
