Paneer Butter Masala

Paneer is a kind of fresh cheese that you can easily prepare at home. Many tasty dishes can be prepared using paneer. In that way I made an easy and delicious dish where cottage cheese (paneer) is cooked in rich and creamy gravy. It is best for toddlers and kids as it contains cottage cheese, butter which are rich in protein, calcium and other vitamins. You can have paneer butter masala with naan, parathas, chappathis or rice. There are many ways to prepare this recipe. This is quite an easy one yet a yummy gravy. Hope you will try this and share your comments.

Preparation Time: 10 mins
Cooking Time: 25 mins
Serves: 2

Ingredients:

Cottage Cheese/ Paneer- 150 gms
Onion- 1
Tomato- 1
Butter- 4 tbsp
Green Chilli- 2, slit lengthwise
Fresh Milk- 3 tbsp
Ginger Garlic Paste- 2 tsp
Bay leaf- 1
Coriander Powder- 1 tbsp
Chilli Powder- 1 tsp
Garam Masala- 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder- 1/4 tsp
Cumin Powder- 1/2 tsp
Oil- 3 tbsp
Salt to taste

Procedure:

1. Prepare all your ingredients.

2. Heat oil in a kadai and add the sliced onions and tomatoes and saute till the raw smell leaves.

3. Blend the onion tomato mixture into a fine puree.

4. In the same pan add the butter and fry the paneer cubes to golden brown color.

5. Now  remove the fried paneer from the kadai and keep aside.

6. Add bay leaf to the same pan along with blended puree and saute well. Add ginger garlic paste and saute till aroma leaves.

6. Add the masalas (turmeric powder, chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and garam masala) to it and mix them well.

7. Add milk to the kadai and stir well.

8. When it is cooking add the green chilies and mix them.

9. Add the fried paneer to the gravy and allow it to get thick consistency by cooking for sometime.

10. Serve paneer butter masala by garnishing with fresh cream and coriander leaves.

Notes:

1. You can just puree the onion tomato mixture without sauteing them, i.e raw.
2. Instead of using milk you can add cream too.
3. You can add paneer to the gravy without frying them but by frying, it improves the taste.
