One Pot Chicken Briyani


We all love briyani also we like variety in briyani. Already we have posted chicken dum briyani(Click here)  so now we are sharing pressure cooker chicken briyani. This briyani is also rich in taste as dum briyani but it is quite easy to prepare when compared to dum style. When you are craving for briyani but little lazy to do so many works then you can adopt this recipe as this is quick and easy to prepare. Hope you guys will try this. Have a lovely briyani day!! 


Preparation Time: 15 mins
Cooking Time: 20 mins
Marination Time: 30 mins
Serves: 4


Ingredients:

Basmati Rice- 2cups
Chicken- 3/4 kg
Onion- 4
Tomato- 2
Green Chilli- 3
Ginger garlic paste- 1.5 tbsp
Coriander leaves & Mint leaves- 1/2 cup
Bay leaf- 1
Cardamom- 4 
Cinnamon- 1 inch piece
Cloves- 4
Lemon juice- 1 tsp
Ghee- 2 tbsp
Oil- 4 tbsp
Water- 3.5 cups
Cashew and raisins- 1/4 cup
Salt to taste

To Marinate:

Lemon juice- 1 tsp
Ginger garlic paste- 2 tsp
Corriander powder- 2 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder- 1 tbsp
Garam masala powder- 1 tsp
Corriander leaves & Mint leaves- 1/2 cup
Salt to taste

Procedure:

1. Slice thinly the onions and chop the tomatoes. Then prepare other ingredients required.


2. Marinate the chicken using the ingredients given under " To Marinate". Keep aside for 30 minutes.


3. Heat a pressure cooker and add the ghee and 2 tbsp oil. Fry the cashews and raisins. Keep them aside.


4. Add one handful of onions to it and fry them to golden brown. Remove them to a plate and set aside.



5. Add the remaining oil and add the whole spices.


6. Add the remaining onions and green chilli and saute till the onions becomes translucent.


7. Add ginger garlic paste and saute till the raw smell leaves. Now add the tomatoes and saute well.


8. Now add the marinated chicken to it and mix well.


9. Add salt and the water. Mix them all together.


 10. Add the washed and drained basmati rice to it and gently mix them.


11. Add corriander and mint leaves, half part of fried onions, 1 tbsp ghee and lemon juice. Again gently mix them.

12. Pressure cook for 1 whistle and wait till the steam gets build for next whistle and switch off the flame.


13. After the pressure all gone by itself, open the pressure cooker and tansfer the briyani to a plate garnishing with remaining fried onions, roasted cashews and raisins. Serve with chicken fry and raita.

Note:
1. Instead of adding lemon juice at the last step, you can even add curd to it.
2. The chicken which I used gets cooked in 1 whistle but some chicken may take more whistles to pressure cook, so cook accordingly.
